Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Takeda Shida (ranked 1120 p4p, 993 weight class) and Earnie Shavers (ranked 61 p4p, 52 weight class). Takeda Shida has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Takeda Shida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Earnie Shavers!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shavers fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shida.
Shavers ducks under a wild hook from Shida.
Shida is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shavers.
Shida misses the shot to the body.
Shida checks the leg kick.
Shavers throws a leg kick which misses Shida's front leg but catches the back leg as Shida tries to avoid it.
Shavers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shida manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shida lands a nice shot that snaps Shavers's head back.
Shavers swings for the body but Shida moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shida throws a body shot but no joy.
Shavers just misses with a punch to the body.
Shida swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Shida fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shavers manages to avoid it.
Shavers scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Shida doesn't seem bothered though.
Earnie Shavers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shavers scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Shavers ducks right into an uppercut from Shida.
Shavers steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shida.
Shida uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shavers has time to react.
Shida pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shavers. Shida does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shavers has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Shavers throws a hook but Shida blocks it.
Shida appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
A jab from Shida misses.
Shida looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Shida throws a jab when Shavers was well out of range.
Shavers throws a leg kick
and Shida cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shavers throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Shida lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Shavers falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
