Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Theodore Nouveau (ranked 895 p4p, 685 weight class) and Svalbard Haudegen (ranked 129 p4p, 101 weight class). Haudegen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For Heavy Metal we will die! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Svalbard Haudegen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haudegen instigates a clinch.
Nouveau is looking for a takedown.
Nouveau blocks an uppercut.
Nouveau lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like Svalbard Haudegen has been cut.
Haudegen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Nouveau backwards.

Nouveau throws a nice looking combination but Haudegen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Haudegen lands a left and a right that send Nouveau crashing to the mat, dazed. Haudegen thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Nouveau is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Horrible takedown attempt by Nouveau or perhaps it was just good defense by Haudegen, which made it look bad.

Nouveau seems to have got his legs back now.

Haudegen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Nouveau creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Haudegen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Haudegen leaves Nouveau with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Haudegen darts in and clinches Nouveau up against the cage.

Nouveau has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Haudegen uses from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nouveau controls Haudegen momentarily but Haudegen frees himself.
Nouveau might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nouveau is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Haudegen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Nouveau lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Haudegen felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Theodore Nouveau overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nouveau is looking to escape but he's done so without protecting himself and Haudegen manages to counter with a nice rear naked choke! Nouveau is in trouble and he's forced to tap!

An out of breath Svalbard Haudegen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
