Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Victor Ramon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rene Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rene Wood is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Victor Ramon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Wood!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wood pushes Ramon off looking to stand but Ramon dives back in and keeps control.
Wood is looking to improve his position.
Wood is looking to control Ramon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wood avoid being mounted?
Ramon is pressing down on Wood's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wood is holding on for now.

Ramon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wood has his hands clasped together around Ramon's back. He's all about the action.
Ramon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ramon shoots for a takedown but Wood saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ramon shoots in for a takedown but Wood shows good takedown defense.
Ramon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wood tries to avoid it but Ramon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wood to the ground. Wood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Ramon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wood scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ramon is pressing down on Wood's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wood is working Ramon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ramon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wood is looking to take a break and control but Ramon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ramon is trying to get back to full guard.

Ramon looking for submissions off his back.
Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ramon is not content to let Wood control the position.

Wood wants to work for an arm triangle but Ramon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ramon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wood scores with a couple of nice shots.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramon is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wood.

Wood closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramon circles away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ramon jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ramon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wood moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ramon moves into the clinch successfully.
Ramon has had enough of the clinch but Wood keeps him there for the moment.

Wood escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ramon moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ramon misses with a hook. Wood ducked under it nicely.
Ramon scores with a jab to the jaw.

Wood drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wood scoring with punches to the head and body.
Wood trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ramon is looking for a triangle but Wood pushes his legs off easily.
Wood won't allow Ramon to sweep him here.

Ramon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wood is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ramon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rene Wood dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Wood looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ramon gets full guard.

Ramon is looking for a triangle but Wood pushes his legs off easily.
Ramon is trying to control the position but Wood postures up.

Wood stands up over Ramon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ramon wants to sweep here but Wood controlling him for the moment.
Wood must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ramon is working hard here to advance position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Wood decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wood is nestled in close to Ramon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ramon is looking for a sweep. Wood is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ramon is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Wood has his hands clasped together but Ramon extends an breaks Wood's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ramon.
