PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24732 p4p, 24669 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Horrible takedown attempt by Buktot or perhaps it was just good defense by Bitok, which made it look bad.
Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bitok pinned against the cage. Bitok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok shoots in looking for a takedown but Buktot manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bitok's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Buktot shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bitok but Bitok pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bitok counters with a body kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bitok.
Buktot throws a big counter combination but Bitok scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Buktot shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Bitok is concentrating on defense, preventing Buktot from advancing position.
Buktot takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bitok kicks off Buktot and gets to his feet.
Buktot tries for a takedown but Bitok circles away easily
and Bitok counters with a solid body kick.

Bitok drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Buktot is pulling down on Bitok's head. It's preventing any offense from Bitok, at least for the moment.
Bitok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bitok is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Buktot is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Buktot looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bitok is one step ahead there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bitok displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buktot.
Bitok with the counter takedown but Buktot avoids it easily.
Bitok lands a right hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bitok feints and as Buktot raises his hands in defense, Bitok changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bitok showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Buktot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Buktot pulls Bitok in close to his closed guard and prevents Bitok from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bitok throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buktot slaps away a takedown attempt from Bitok, before circling back to the center of the mat.
It appears Buktot was looking to counter with a kick there.
Bitok shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buktot sprawls well. Buktot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bitok gets slowly back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Buktot.
Bitok shapes to counter with a head kick.
Bitok throws the kick towards the body but Buktot avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bitok doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Buktot counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Buktot looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Bitok!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buktot trying to control the action but Bitok is working from the bottom.
Bitok is trying to improve his position.
Kulata Bitok has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot controls the position from side control.

Bitok tries to buck Buktot off but Buktot is having none of it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
You can see the frustration on Bitok's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bitok might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Buktot haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Buktot tries for a takedown but Bitok sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Bitok counters with a body kick.
Buktot looks to land a body kick but Bitok moved away.
Bitok replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Buktot blocks it well.
Buktot shoots for a takedown but Bitok saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bitok with a lazy takedown attempt
and Buktot counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bitok is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Buktot manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bitok on his heels. He'll look to pass Bitok's guard now, I'm sure.

Bitok looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Bitok working a defensive guard but Buktot passes into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buktot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bitok for as long as he can get away with.
Bitok keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Dawindi Buktot showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bitok has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
