PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 24725 p4p, 24634 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Kiang tries for a takedown but Nada circles away easily
and Nada finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Nada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kiang jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Nada tries to sprawl but Kiang drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada keeping hold of Kiang's head, controlling as best he can.
Kiang content to control rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nada is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Kiang prevents Nada from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nada tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kiang is trying to defend but Nada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kiang controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kiang is trying to control but can't.
Nada controlling the pace.
Kiang wants to control but Nada is keeping busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kiang is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nada is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Nada shoots in and bounces Kiang off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kiang holds on and takes a little breather.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Nada is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kiang's half guard.
Kiang trying to hold on to Nada's head to control him but Nada postures up.
Well, if Nada is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Let's hope that Nada has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nada is trying to control the action in half guard but Kiang is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Nada is taking a breather. Kiang says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kiang leaves Nada with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kiang jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Nada shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang controlling the position well.
Still in half guard, Nada seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kiang trying to control but Nada postures up.
Nada is controlling the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nada.
Kiang misses with a kick to the body

and Nada counters with a shoot takedown. Kiang fights it but they end up in guard.
Way Nada has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kiang striking off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kiang pulls Nada in close to his closed guard and prevents Nada from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nada has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kiang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kiang wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nada keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Nada follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Nada tries to sprawl but Kiang drives through with a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada controlling the position for now.
Still in half guard, Kiang seems content to control.
Nada is trying to maintain the position but Kiang is very close to passing his half guard.
Still in half guard, Kiang seems content to control.
Kiang is just content to waste time from the top position. Nada takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kiang being controlled here momentarily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Nada looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kiang is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Yawa Kiang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Way Nada is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Nada lands a front kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Way Nada.
Well Nada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
