Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Drake Jones (ranked 5024 p4p, 2956 weight class) and Rodrigo Ferriera (ranked 357 p4p, 249 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drake Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Ferriera!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferriera jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jones goes for a double leg but Ferriera avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ferriera continues to drive forward.
A bit of stalling here from Jones.
Jones is struggling to control the position.
Jones gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Jones prevents the takedown attempt.
Jones pressing his opponent against the cage.
Ferriera has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jones after a bit of a struggle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ferriera takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ferriera tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Jones jumps into guard, dragging Ferriera to the mat.
Jones pulls Ferriera in close to prevent any damage.
Ferriera sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Ferriera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ferriera looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ferriera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jones looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Ferriera is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jones is looking to take a break and control but Ferriera is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ferriera is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jones's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jones is just content to waste time from the top position. Ferriera takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

We've been informed that Ferriera has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Ferriera is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.

Jones slips under a jab from Ferriera.

Ferriera drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jones defends it well.

Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ferriera throws out the jab.
Ferriera throws a jab but it's blocked by Jones.
Ferriera tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.

Jones goes for a double leg but Ferriera avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ferriera continues to drive forward.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jones is trying to keep Ferriera in close.
Ferriera passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Jones gets full guard.

Jones is looking to sweep but instead, Ferriera has passed into half guard.
Ferriera is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ferriera is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Ferriera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jones is not content to let Ferriera control the position.
Ferriera might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jones haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ferriera is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Jones reverses the position - he's now on top in Ferriera's guard.
Ferriera can't keep his opponent in guard - Jones advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Jones is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ferriera tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones shoots for a takedown but Ferriera saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ferriera drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jones defends it well.

Ferriera ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ferriera or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.
Ferriera stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ferriera wants it to stay on the feet.
Ferriera drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jones defends it well.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ferriera.
Ferriera slips a jab from Jones.
Ferriera tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Ferriera lands with a straight right. Jones didn't see that one coming.
Jones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ferriera drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jones looks frustrated here - throwing a couple of shots from the bottom though.
Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ferriera looking to control but instead Jones has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Ferriera throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones wants to sweep here but Ferriera controlling him for the moment.
Ferriera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ferriera wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Ferriera has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ferriera.

Jones connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Ferriera some visible discomfort.
Drake Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jones lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee asks Jones politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jones prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
