Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zhyrgal Osmonov!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osmonov gets caught flat footed, as Jackson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Osmonov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jackson has picked Osmonov up and slammed him! Osmonov can't keep hold of the triangle and Jackson manages to pass to side control!

Jackson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Osmonov is looking to reverse the position.

Jackson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Osmonov has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jackson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Osmonov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jackson off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Osmonov looking to break Jackson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jackson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Osmonov will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Jackson is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Cozad The Island, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.


Jackson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Osmonov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jackson, into his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Osmonov passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Osmonov tries to pass to full mount but Jackson defends it.
Osmonov keeps trying to improve his position.

Jackson looks to move to half guard but instead Osmonov has passed into mount! Damn!

Osmonov wants to finish this one by submission but Jackson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Osmonov.
Jackson wants to control but Osmonov is having none of it.
Jackson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Jackson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Osmonov looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Osmonov looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Osmonov!

You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown. Osmonov fights it but they end up in guard.

We've been informed that Osmonov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Jackson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Osmonov has worked his arm free - good work by Osmonov!

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jackson swings around for an armbar but Osmonov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jackson's guard.
Osmonov lands a couple of elbows.

Jackson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jackson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Osmonov turns into him and now he's in Jackson's guard.

Osmonov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jackson dives into side control.


Jackson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Osmonov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jackson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Osmonov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jackson but great work by Osmonov.

Osmonov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackson's head.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Osmonov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jackson is trying to control the position but Osmonov postures up.
Osmonov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Osmonov is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jackson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Osmonov is looking to defend but Jackson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Osmonov! Jackson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Osmonov taps out and this one is all over!
