PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pickle (ranked 3893 p4p, 24733 weight class) and Dustin Fahey (ranked 448 p4p, 573 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Pickle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dustin Fahey!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pickle digs a good body shot into Fahey's ribs.
Pickle misses with a wild combination.
Pickle throws a series of punches but Fahey avoids them all with ease.
Pickle fails with the takedown
and Fahey counters with a straight right hand.
Pickle throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pickle shoots in and drives through. Fahey sprawls well.

Fahey closes the distance and clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fahey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fahey is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pickle's half guard.
Pickle is looking to control Fahey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pickle avoid being mounted?
Fahey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pickle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pickle is on top in guard.

Fahey is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fahey working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Pickle has passed into half guard!
Fahey tries to kick Pickle off in order to stand up. Pickle Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Fahey tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Pickle easily slips into full mount!

Pickle seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fahey for as long as he can get away with.
You get the feeling that Fahey really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pickle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Fahey really wants to buck Pickle off and get back to his feet.
Pickle scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pickle content just to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fahey is trying to escape the mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Some wild striking there from Fahey.
It looked like Pickle was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Fahey.

Fahey has closed the distance and engaged Pickle in a clinch.

Pickle manages to break the clinch.
Fahey misses with a series of wild punches.
Fahey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pickle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Fahey uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pickle has time to react.
A bone on bone clash there as Pickle blocks the leg kick.
Pickle changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Fahey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pickle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fahey somewhat.
Fahey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pickle tries to avoid it but Fahey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pickle to the ground. Pickle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Fahey wants to clinch up but Pickle keeps it at a distance.

Peter Pickle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Fahey is breathing heavily.
Fahey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pickle sprawls well. Pickle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fahey gets slowly back to his feet.

Pickle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fahey is fending him off so far but Pickle persists. Nope, Fahey circles away and we're back to standing.
Pickle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pickle dives in and grabs Fahey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fahey pushes down on Pickle's head and hops out.
Fahey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pickle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pickle pulls Fahey in close to his closed guard and prevents Fahey from doing any damage or advancing position.
Pickle seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Pickle manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fahey manages to get himself to full guard.

Pickle is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Pickle slips nicely into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pickle is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Fahey is trying to escape and Pickle transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Fahey is forced to tap! Nice work there by Pickle! Very nice indeed!
