And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Trace Mack! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Mack closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Chai (0) vs (4) Mack Chai struggling a bit here. Mack swings around for an armbar but Chai sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mack's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Chai (2) vs (4) Mack Mack looking for subs off his back but Chai has passed one foot through into half guard.
Chai is taking a breather. Mack says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mack is looking for a sweep. Chai is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mack manages to get to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mack had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chai defends it easily. Chai showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chai is pushing down on Mack's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mack is fighting to maintain full guard but Chai has managed to sneak the leg through. Mack looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mack is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chai pulls his head out easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Chai looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mack has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Chai escapes and passes into side control at the same time. That's five minutes gone in the round. Chai looking to control and managing it successfully. Chai has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Mack is trying desperately to improve position. Chai fails to take his opponent's back. Mack really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Chai takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Chai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mack for as long as he can get away with. Chai fails to advance to Mack's back. Mack is working to get back to half guard.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Chai is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Mack actively working from the bottom here. He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Mack turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Chai off and cradles Mack's limp body as Chai celebrates with his corner.
