Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matthew Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Masterson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith moves into the clinch.
Smith stalling.
Smith is pressed up against the cage. Masterson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Masterson to the ground. Smith is now in Masterson's guard.
Smith content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Masterson has locked up a guillotine! Masterson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Smith is holding on here and Masterson must be using up a lot of energy. Smith has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Masterson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
