PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 24342 p4p, 24714 weight class) and Helen Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helen Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion shoots for a double leg takedown but Amiga sprawls well. He's pushed Salvacion's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.
Amiga dives in and grabs Salvacion's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes down on Amiga's head and hops out.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Amiga gets caught napping as Salvacion dives in and scores a takedown. Amiga manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amiga has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion wants to stand but Amiga has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Amiga controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Amiga drives through with a takedown into guard.
Salvacion can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Amiga controls the pace.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion has his hands on Amiga's head, controlling the position.
Amiga is looking to stand up but Salvacion won't let him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Salvacion pulls Amiga in to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Amiga wants it to stay on the feet.
It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Amiga sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Helen Salvacion will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

No luck for Amiga with that takedown attempt.
Salvacion counters with a body kick.

Amiga looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion controlling the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Amiga seems content to control.
Amiga seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Salvacion for as long as he can get away with.
Amiga is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Salvacion.
Salvacion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Amiga is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amiga but Amiga pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga shoots in looking for a takedown but Salvacion manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Amiga's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.

Amiga shoots in and gets a takedown into Salvacion's guard.
Amiga has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Salvacion is proving hard to escape from.
Amiga stays in close to Salvacion's body and controls the position.
Amiga continues to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is adopting a defensive guard.
Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Agbay Amiga dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Salvacion shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Amiga is looking to get back to is feet but Salvacion passes into side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?
Agbay Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Salvacion controlling the position.

Salvacion tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Salvacion controls the position from side control.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is looking for a sweep.
Salvacion staying calm.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion fails with the takedown.

Amiga looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Amiga gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Salvacion feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Helen Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Salvacion has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
