Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Blonde Brunson (ranked 746 p4p, 2723 weight class) and Hiroshi Gomi (ranked 54 p4p, 160 weight class). Gomi has chosen The Only Thing The Fear is You- DOOM Eternal OST as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blonde Brunson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hiroshi Gomi! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brunson with a poor takedown and Gomi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Nice defenses there by Brunson. Brunson closes the distance and lands a one-two. Gomi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Brunson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gomi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Brunson tries for a takedown but Gomi circles away easily and Brunson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blonde Brunson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gomi scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gomi misses with the combination.
Brunson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gomi's half guard. Gomi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gomi is trying to stand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brunson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Brunson prevents Gomi from standing back up.
Brunson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gomi pushes Brunson off and gets back to his feet. Gomi throws a jab when Brunson was well out of range. Brunson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Gomi throws a poor cross that misses
and Brunson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gomi's guard. Brunson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Gomi has momentary wrist control but Brunson slips an elbow through the middle. Brunson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gomi being controlled here, momentarily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gomi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gomi keeping moving, preventing Brunson from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gomi wants to stand but Brunson is controlling the position. Brunson works over Gomi with some ground and pound from guard. Brunson trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom. Gomi keeping full guard, as Brunson tries to pass. Brunson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Brunson pushes down on Gomi's leg and manages to get into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brunson prevents Gomi from standing back up.
Brunson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Nice strikes from Brunson there. Brunson stops Gomi from getting back to his feet.

Brunson is nestled in close to Gomi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Brunson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Brunson is keen to just control but Gomi is a slippery customer. Brunson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gomi! Gomi bucks up and throws Brunson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Brunson ducks right into an uppercut from Gomi. Hiroshi Gomi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Brunson tries for a takedown but Gomi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Brunson tries for a takedown but Gomi circles away easily and Gomi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gomi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brunson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Brunson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gomi to score with a decent uppercut. Gomi has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Brunson has his takedown stuffed and Gomi counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Brunson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gomi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Brunson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gomi defends well and Brunson ends up having to push Gomi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Brunson tries for a takedown but Gomi manages to get underhooks.
Brunson is breathing heavily. Brunson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Gomi's efforts to push away. Brunson is looking for a takedown. Gomi is defending well against a takedown attempt. Gomi is trying to break the clinch but Brunson is controlling him. Brunson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gomi walks away with a smile on his face. Brunson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A lazy left from Gomi finds it's target. Brunson shoots and misses and Gomi counters with a stiff right hand. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Hiroshi Gomi dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Brunson fails with the takedown and Gomi counters with a stiff right hand. Gomi has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Brunson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Gomi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Brunson misses with a takedown attempt and Gomi counters with a three punch combo that has Brunson backing up. Brunson nods at Gomi to acknowledge the strikes.
Brunson is rocked! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blonde Brunson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brunson with a poor takedown and Gomi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Oh Brunson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hiroshi Gomi seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gomi walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Brunson drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gomi swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Brunson's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
