The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Miller enables Manuel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Miller manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Miller looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Manuel sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Miller's guard. Manuel uses his free foot to push down on Miller's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Miller. Miller has given up his back. Will we see Manuel going for some submissions?
Manuel has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Miller! Can he survive? No! He's out! Manuel gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jose Manuel! After the fight, Jose Manuel was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
