PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Martin McDolan (ranked 5334 p4p, 2943 weight class) and Mud Treyfold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Treyfold comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Distance- Cake kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Martin McDolan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Martin McDolan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mud Treyfold!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Treyfold rushes McDolan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McDolan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Treyfold prevents McDolan from breaking the clinch.

McDolan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Treyfold feints and as McDolan raises his hands in defense, Treyfold changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Treyfold wants to stand but McDolan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Treyfold tries to free his leg and advance position but McDolan is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Treyfold stays in close to McDolan's body and controls the position.
McDolan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
McDolan has a closed guard, preventing Treyfold from standing up.

Treyfold won't allow McDolan to get back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
McDolan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Treyfold closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Treyfold seems content to control.
Treyfold tries to pass the half guard into mount. McDolan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

McDolan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Treyfold thows a huge punch but McDolan dodges it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Treyfold wants to free his trapped foot but McDolan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Still in half guard, Treyfold seems content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Treyfold moves into the clinch.

Treyfold manages to break the clinch.

Treyfold looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McDolan!

Treyfold decides to stand up, so the ref orders McDolan to his feet.
Mud Treyfold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Treyfold feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Treyfold tries to pass to full mount but McDolan defends it.
Well, if Treyfold is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mud Treyfold dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Treyfold shoots in but no luck this time.
Treyfold shoots for a double leg takedown but McDolan sprawls well. He's pushed Treyfold's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Treyfold doesn't manage to clinch there - McDolan circles away.

and McDolan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Mud Treyfold has been cut.
Martin McDolan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mud Treyfold.
Nice takedown defense from McDolan. No joy for Treyfold on that attempt.

Treyfold throws a strike aimed at the side of McDolan's head but McDolan avoids it well.

Treyfold decides to stand back up.
Treyfold fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McDolan is looking for a counter combo.
Treyfold throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling McDolan to counter with a crisp jab.
Treyfold is breathing heavily.

Treyfold misses with a takedown attempt - McDolan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

McDolan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

McDolan fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Treyfold out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Martin McDolan!
In defeat, Mud Treyfold stepped up to the mic, saying 'It happens, part of the game. Win, lose, or draw...I'm here to fight and entertain. I'll be back and better next time. '.
