PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Punch Bag (ranked 25449 p4p, 2548 weight class) and John Masterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bag's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Eye of the tiger. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Masterson!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bag throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Masterson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bag's guard.

Let's hope that Masterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bag has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Masterson's coach down at Cozad MMA Las Vegas was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Masterson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

and Masterson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Masterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bag swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Bag looks to land a combination but Masterson avoids it well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Masterson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bag's shoulder. That is not cool.

Masterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bag knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bag tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Masterson cranks the arm and Bag screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bag, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
