Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, The Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Burton! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson with a poor takedown and Wilson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like The Wilson has been cut. Wilson fails with the takedown and Burton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Burton tries to sprawl but Wilson drives through with a takedown into half guard. Wilson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Wilson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Wilson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wilson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Burton is trying to control but can't.
Wilson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Burton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Wilson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Wilson trying to pass the guard but Burton defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson not doing much here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wilson connects with a nice short shot to Burton's temple. Burton wants to control but Wilson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Well, if Wilson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Wilson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Wilson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wilson working Burton over with strikes. Wilson drops an elbow to the side of Burton's head. Burton is not content to let Wilson control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burton is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wilson scores with a couple of nice shots. Wilson scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Wilson slips a nice elbow through Burton's hands, connecting with Burton's forehead. Wilson passes the guard and advances to mount! Wilson with good strikes from the mount here!
It looks like John Burton has been cut. Wilson unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Burton wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Wilson celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
