Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rusev fails with a takedown attempt.
Despite the aggression on Patterson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Rusev closes this distance looking for a takedown but Patterson circles away.
Patterson tries for a takedown but Rusev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Patterson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rusev to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Patterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Patterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rusev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rusev passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rusev landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Rusev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Patterson struggling a bit here.
Patterson is looking to regain half guard here but Rusev keeps moving and retains side control.

Rusev looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Patterson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rusev connects with a decent elbow.
Patterson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rusev wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Patterson is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Check out the look on Rusev's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Patterson wants to control but Rusev postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rusev in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Rusev lands a decent elbow from side control.
Patterson is still in real trouble! Can Rusev finish him?
Rusev cracks Patterson with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Rusev immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Patterson is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Rusev!
