PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim McKreedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaac Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Let the Bodies Hit the Floor kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Isaac Brown is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim McKreedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Isaac Brown!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKreedy has managed to clinch.

McKreedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A big left from Brown misses.
McKreedy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Brown tries to score a body lock takedown but McKreedy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

McKreedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

McKreedy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brown is trying to control McKreedy's posture but McKreedy avoids it.
Brown is trying to improve his position.
McKreedy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Brown's shoulder. That is not cool.

McKreedy swings around for an armbar but Brown sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McKreedy's guard.

Brown is fighting to break McKreedy's control of his arms but McKreedy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
McKreedy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brown!
Brown tries to get back to half guard but can't.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
BOOM! McKreedy connects with a massive shot to the dome!

McKreedy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brown is wriggling around trying to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McKreedy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brown tries to reverse the position but McKreedy maintains control.

Brown is squirming around, avoiding McKreedy's attempts to control the action.
Brown wants to control but McKreedy is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown tries to lock up and control but McKreedy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Brown tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and McKreedy counters with a lovely shot to the body.

McKreedy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McKreedy lands in his opponent's guard.
McKreedy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

McKreedy clinches with his opponent.
Brown tries to work over McKreedy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
McKreedy stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Brown is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

McKreedy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Brown moves forwards but McKreedy connects with a nice, crisp jab.
McKreedy throws a head kick but Brown moves out of range.
McKreedy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brown swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and McKreedy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Brown!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well, if McKreedy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McKreedy drops an elbow to the side of Brown's head.
Brown tries to kick McKreedy off but McKreedy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McKreedy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brown with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Brown wants to improve his position but McKreedy is controlling well.
McKreedy throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

McKreedy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brown knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McKreedy lunges at Brown with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Brown's hand.
McKreedy throws a head kick that half lands.

McKreedy has Brown up against the cage in a clinch.
Isaac Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jim McKreedy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Brown struggles to land a body shot inside as McKreedy controls his hands.

McKreedy jumps into guard, dragging Brown to the mat.
Brown in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

McKreedy has control of Brown's left arm, preventing Brown from doing any damage.
Brown wants to control from the top but McKreedy keeps moving.
McKreedy lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
Brown trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Brown thows a big elbow that misses.

McKreedy pushes Brown off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim McKreedy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McKreedy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
