Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between JJ Harris (ranked 2774 p4p, 6252 weight class) and Ruben Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). JJ Harris could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ruben Rodriguez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, JJ Harris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ruben Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rodriguez to the ground. Harris is now in Rodriguez's guard. Rodriguez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Harris slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Rodriguez wants to sweep but no luck. Harris working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Harris is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Harris content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harris sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris passes into half guard. Harris looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Harris is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rodriguez defends it well. Rodriguez tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Harris working Rodriguez over with strikes. Harris is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Harris connects with a nice short shot to Rodriguez's temple.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harris lands with a punch from half guard. Harris perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Harris scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Harris sitting and controlling from the half guard. Rodriguez tries to roll over but Harris keeps him under control. Harris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris uses his free foot to push down on Rodriguez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rodriguez. Rodriguez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Harris stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Harris looks for a takedown but Rodriguez sprawls well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Harris closes the distance and pushes Rodriguez back into the cage. Harris lands a takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
JJ Harris dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Harris throws a sloppy head kick and Rodriguez moves out of range easily. Rodriguez wants to clinch up but Harris keeps it at a distance. Harris shoots in and bounces Rodriguez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Rodriguez wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Harris manages to pass to side control. Still in half guard, Harris seems content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodriguez is breathing heavily. Rodriguez wants to control the action here but instead Harris manages to pass to full mount! Harris content just to control the position here. Rodriguez is working to get back to half guard.
Harris controlling from mount. JJ Harris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Harris looking to isolate an arm here. Rodriguez doesn't see it coming and as Harris extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Harris!
