The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bortnik manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cichero on his heels. He'll look to pass Cichero's guard now, I'm sure.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cichero isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bortnik stacks Cichero on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bortnik!
Cichero is looking to regain half guard here but Bortnik keeps moving and retains side control.

Bortnik lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Bortnik connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cichero some visible discomfort.

Bortnik's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bortnik connects with a nice short shot to Cichero's temple.

Bortnik seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
