PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sirus Hughes (ranked 2392 p4p, 6043 weight class) and Uchima Gonshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Devil "Shinedown". Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uchima Gonshiro!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonshiro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A jab from Hughes misses.
Hughes misses the jab.
Gonshiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gonshiro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hughes swivels and escapes.
Nice sprawl there from Hughes as Gonshiro shoots in.
Sirus Hughes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Uchima Gonshiro.
Hughes fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Hughes darts in and clinches Gonshiro up against the cage.
Gonshiro is trying to pull guard but Hughes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gonshiro jumps guard but Hughes turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Hughes obliges.

Hughes gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hughes chips away with some ground and pound.
Gonshiro controls Hughes momentarily but Hughes frees himself.
Gonshiro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gonshiro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gonshiro looks winded!

Hughes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gonshiro, up you get!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonshiro looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hughes is fending him off so far but Gonshiro persists. Nope, Hughes circles away and we're back to standing.
Hughes jabs at Gonshiro's body.

Hughes moves into range and clinches up with Gonshiro.
Gonshiro jumps guard but Hughes stands there with Gonshiro around his waist. Gonshiro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hughes has Gonshiro pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hughes pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gonshiro tumbling to the mat - Hughes dives into Gonshiro's guard.

Hughes stands up and waves to Gonshiro to follow him.
Gonshiro wants to clinch.
Gonshiro tries to clinch but Hughes is having none of it.
Gonshiro looks for a takedown but Hughes sprawls well.

Hughes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughes wants it to stay on the feet.
Hughes throws a sloppy head kick and Gonshiro moves out of range easily.

and Gonshiro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hughes throws a monster overhand right that drops Gonshiro! Hughes follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
