CWC 338 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 42 wins and 14 losses; John Lee! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 39 wins and 35 losses; Able Archer!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Lee has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lee drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lee is taking a breather. Archer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Archer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Archer.
Archer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lee controls the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee won't allow Archer to sweep him here.

Archer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Archer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lee is just riding it out for now. Archer eventually gives up the hold.
Lee is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at SSJ Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

As we have tied on points, we go to a tie breaker and Archer gets a bonus point for attempting more subs.
