Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Griggs (ranked 3123 p4p, 2536 weight class) and Herio Lupsaka (ranked 401 p4p, 330 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vinny Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Herio Lupsaka!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs cracks a nice hook into Lupsaka's ribs.
Lupsaka tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Griggs defends well and Lupsaka ends up having to push Griggs into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
It looked like Griggs was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Griggs cracks Lupsaka with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Griggs uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lupsaka.
Lupsaka closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Griggs's guard.
Lupsaka working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Lupsaka is looking to work some ground and pound but Griggs has wrist control.
Lupsaka stands up over Griggs, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Lupsaka cracks Griggs with a solid left hand.
Lupsaka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Griggs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lupsaka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lupsaka postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lupsaka content to stall in guard here.
Lupsaka in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lupsaka is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Lupsaka is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Lupsaka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Griggs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lupsaka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lupsaka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lupsaka working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Griggs's head.
Oh Griggs is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lupsaka postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Griggs covers up, he's hurt! Lupsaka keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Lupsaka and the ref steps in to end the fight! Lupsaka can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Herio Lupsaka!
An out of breath Herio Lupsaka thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
