PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 24768 p4p, 24518 weight class) and Richard John Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard John Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nice sprawl there from Amiga as Salvacion shoots in.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Amiga.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion goes for a double leg but Amiga avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Amiga continues to drive forward.
Amiga thinks about countering with a body kick.
Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard John Salvacion.

Amiga thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Salvacion if he has to take too many more of those.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Salvacion manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Amiga on his heels. He'll look to pass Amiga's guard now, I'm sure.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Amiga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Salvacion throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Amiga works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Salvacion tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amiga defends well and Salvacion ends up having to push Amiga into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Amiga is trying hard to land a takedown here. Salvacion sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Salvacion closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Amiga quickly recovers to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga is positioning himself well to prevent Salvacion advancing to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Richard John Salvacion dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Amiga.
Salvacion shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Amiga counters with a nice kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga pushes down on Salvacion's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Amiga wants to take a breather but Salvacion is having none of it.
Amiga with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Salvacion controlling the position for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Salvacion trying to hold on to Amiga's head to control him but Amiga postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Amiga sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Salvacion defending well though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Amiga looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Salvacion wants to sweep here but Amiga controlling him for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion seems keen to control Amiga's posture.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gakus Amiga dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Salvacion dives in for a single leg takedown but Amiga sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Amiga looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Amiga shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Salvacion is trying to defend but Amiga finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Amiga content to control rather than advance.

Salvacion is concentrating on defense, preventing Amiga from advancing position.

Salvacion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Amiga is working away from the top position though.
Amiga slows the pace down in half guard.
Salvacion controlling the position for now.
Gakus Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Salvacion fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Amiga tries for a takedown but Salvacion circles away easily
and Salvacion counters with a nice body kick.
Salvacion doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Amiga counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Salvacion!
Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard John Salvacion.

Well Amiga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
