PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Grigoriy Petrov (ranked 90 p4p, 88 weight class) and Rasmus Reedtz (ranked 16 p4p, 15 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 3, fighting out of New York, Grigoriy Petrov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rasmus Reedtz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reedtz takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Petrov lands a nice leg kick that just misses Reedtz's sensitive parts.
Petrov chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Reedtz misses with a low kick.
Petrov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Petrov feints and then cracks Reedtz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Reedtz down.
Petrov lands with a thumping leg kick.
Reedtz tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Petrov was well out of range. Poor timing from Reedtz.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Reedtz has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A jab from Reedtz misses.
A quick step to the side and Petrov tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reedtz scoring well with a low kick there.
Reedtz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Petrov.
Petrov looks to land a right hand but Reedtz moved out of range.
Petrov swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Reedtz.
Petrov scores with a decent looking hook.

Reedtz shoots for a takedown but Petrov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Petrov looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Reedtz defending well as Petrov loads up on a big left hand.
Reedtz swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Petrov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reedtz moves away.

Petrov lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Reedtz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Petrov.
Petrov jabs Reedtz right on the nose. Reedtz blinks but takes it well.
Grigoriy Petrov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reedtz lands a lovely overhand right.

Reedtz dives in and scores a takedown into Petrov's guard.

Reedtz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Reedtz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Reedtz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petrov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Let's hope that Reedtz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Petrov pulls Reedtz in close to his closed guard and prevents Reedtz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Reedtz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Reedtz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Petrov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reedtz on the ground.
Petrov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Petrov throws a hook but Reedtz blocks it.
Petrov lands with a good body shot.
Reedtz throws a looping overhand right but Petrov ducks down to avoid it.
Reedtz shoots in looking for a takedown. Petrov tries to sprawl out of it but Reedtz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Petrov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Reedtz takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Reedtz missing with a left hand there. Petrov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Reedtz throws a leg kick but Petrov sees it coming and moves out of range.
Petrov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reedtz feints the counter takedown.
Petrov misses the shot to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Reedtz checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Reedtz throws a solid leg kick but Petrov takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Reedtz.

Petrov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Reedtz's head backwards.
Reedtz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Petrov as he jumps to the side.
Grigoriy Petrov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rasmus Reedtz.
Reedtz on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Reedtz dives in and scores a takedown into Petrov's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Reedtz wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Reedtz lands with a good body shot.
Reedtz pivots, looking for a leg kick but Petrov is out of range and Reedtz settles back down.
Reedtz throws a lazy uppercut
and Petrov counters with a nice uppercut.
Reedtz closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Reedtz keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Reedtz misses with a straight right.
Petrov lands a nice looking body shot.
Petrov swinging wildly here.
Petrov misses with a low kick as Reedtz jumps back.

and Reedtz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Petrov won't be happy with that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reedtz wants to control but Petrov is keeping him busy.
Reedtz throws a strike aimed at the side of Petrov's head but Petrov avoids it well.
Reedtz has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Reedtz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Reedtz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Rasmus Reedtz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Petrov looks to land a left hand but Reedtz moved out of range nicely.

Petrov lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Reedtz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Petrov manages to avoid it.

Reedtz throws a series of punches but Petrov avoids them all with ease.

Petrov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Reedtz.

and Reedtz counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Reedtz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Reedtz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Petrov's guard.

I think Reedtz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
