Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Toyotomi Hideyoshi (ranked 4359 p4p, 4294 weight class) and Rodrigo Sanchez (ranked 120 p4p, 118 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toyotomi Hideyoshi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodrigo Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez tries to work over Hideyoshi's front leg with a kick but Hideyoshi checks it. Sanchez misses with a head kick.
Hideyoshi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hideyoshi lands in his opponent's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hideyoshi tries to stand but Sanchez is controlling from the bottom. Sanchez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Sanchez looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hideyoshi's corner is telling him to maintain position. Hideyoshi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Hideyoshi rushes Sanchez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sanchez jumps guard but Hideyoshi stands there with Sanchez around his waist. Sanchez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hideyoshi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hideyoshi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sanchez is trying to defend but Hideyoshi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Hideyoshi controlling the action here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Hideyoshi seems content to control. Hideyoshi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanchez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi stalling.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hideyoshi lands a nice short elbow. Hideyoshi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hideyoshi is looking to pass Sanchez's guard but actually Sanchez recovers to full guard. Hideyoshi's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sanchez keeping full guard, as Hideyoshi tries to pass.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Sanchez misses the shot to the body. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hideyoshi scores with a takedown into Sanchez's guard. Hideyoshi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Hideyoshi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hideyoshi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hideyoshi is controlling the pace.
Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Hideyoshi is very close to passing his half guard. Sanchez wants to improve his position but Hideyoshi is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hideyoshi content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hideyoshi is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Hideyoshi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Sanchez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hideyoshi is working away from the top position though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hideyoshi in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sanchez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hideyoshi to score an easy takedown into full guard. Hideyoshi slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hideyoshi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sanchez for as long as he can get away with. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sanchez looking to slow down the pace here. Hideyoshi has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sanchez uses from the top position.
