Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerk McQuirk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeffrey Franklin ! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McQuirk gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Franklin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! McQuirk's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. McQuirk lands a left and a right that send Franklin crashing to the mat, dazed. McQuirk thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Jeffrey Franklin has been cut. Franklin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McQuirk's half guard. McQuirk has one foot on Franklin 's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. We've been told by McQuirk's head coaches at The Jungle Room that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Franklin tries to keep at a distance but McQuirk has taken the fight into the clinch. McQuirk is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Franklin stalling in the clinch but McQuirk improves position. Franklin is looking to control McQuirk's arms but McQuirk gets an underhook and turns him. Now Franklin has his back to the cage. McQuirk is working Franklin over against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franklin jumps guard and drags McQuirk to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. McQuirk landing some decent shots from guard. Franklin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McQuirk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McQuirk content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Franklin is rocked! McQuirk is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Franklin is still in real trouble! Can McQuirk finish him? McQuirk stands and steps away. Franklin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Franklin seems to have recovered his senses. Franklin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. McQuirk lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Franklin at a distance.
McQuirk pushes Franklin up against the cage in a clinch. McQuirk avoiding damage.
McQuirk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McQuirk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
And Franklin responds with a good body kick, but McQuirk manages to step out the way in time. McQuirk takes the fight into the clinch. Franklin tightens his grip and picks McQuirk up, before dumping him to the ground. McQuirk manages to land in guard. McQuirk wriggles free and stands up. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McQuirk cracks Franklin with a hook to the temple - Franklin is on wobbly legs here! McQuirk swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Franklin falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! McQuirk wins by TKO!
