This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 16 wins and 7 losses; Tyron Scott! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 33 losses; Bjj Steel! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Scott manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Steel on his heels. He'll look to pass Steel's guard now, I'm sure. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Scott (2) vs (0) Steel Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Scott stopping the sweep attempt from Steel. Steel keeping moving, preventing Scott from controlling successfully. Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've been hearing good reports from Scott's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving. Steel has control of Scott's left arm, preventing Scott from doing any damage. Scott drops back looking for a leg! Steel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Steel manages to kick Scott off! Scott jumps back into Steel's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel being controlled here, momentarily. Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Scott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Scott (5) vs (0) Steel Scott wants to control but Steel is keeping him busy. Steel is looking to regain half guard here but Scott keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Steel is trying to get back to half guard. Scott happy to just control the position for now. Steel reaches up around Scott's neck trying to control. But Scott takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Steel! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Steel is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and Scott celebrates the victory with the fans!
