Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ivan Kovalchuck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Not Carlos!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Not Carlos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kovalchuck sprawls well initially but Not Carlos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Not Carlos tries to pass to full mount but Kovalchuck defends it.
Kovalchuck knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Not Carlos on the ground.
Not Carlos lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Not Carlos trying to mount his opponent but Kovalchuck defends it.
Not Carlos wants to stand up but Kovalchuck has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Not Carlos wants to free his trapped foot but Kovalchuck is holding on for dear life with his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kovalchuck is controlling Not Carlos's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Not Carlos sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kovalchuck defending well though.

Not Carlos working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Not Carlos wants to work for an arm triangle but Kovalchuck is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kovalchuck lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Kovalchuck moves into the clinch.
Kovalchuck wants to get back to striking at distance but Not Carlos won't allow it.
Kovalchuck has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kovalchuck tries to circle away but Not Carlos has him pinned against the cage.
Not Carlos is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Not Carlos tries for a takedown but Kovalchuck manages to get underhooks.

Kovalchuck's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kovalchuck changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Not Carlos tries to avoid it but Kovalchuck manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Not Carlos to the ground. Not Carlos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kovalchuck connects with a body shot.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kovalchuck!
Kovalchuck misses with a wild body shot.
Kovalchuck cracks a nice hook into Not Carlos's ribs.
Not Carlos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kovalchuck is looking to counter punch.
Ivan Kovalchuck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Not Carlos.

Not Carlos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kovalchuck gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Not Carlos is working for takedown but Kovalchuck is calmly controlling the position for now.

Not Carlos drives through with a takedown into Kovalchuck's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Not Carlos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kovalchuck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Not Carlos takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Kovalchuck throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Not Carlos's waist but Not Carlos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kovalchuck off to one side.

Diego Not Carlos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kovalchuck, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Ivan Kovalchuck was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
