Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarrod Beard (ranked 2695 p4p, 1589 weight class) and Kurt Zweihander (ranked 291 p4p, 183 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Beard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ladies Love Country Boys - Trace Adkins. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurt Zweihander!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Francis DeMontford and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beard throws a lazy uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Zweihander fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Beard.
Beard wants to clinch.
Beard thows a left - swing and a miss!
Beard throws a left and a right that both miss
and Zweihander counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Beard throws a hook to the side of Zweihander's head but Zweihander sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Beard throws a big shot that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zweihander connects with an inside leg kick.
Beard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Beard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Zweihander makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zweihander keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Beard takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Zweihander has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Beard is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Beard is breathing heavily.
Beard waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Zweihander.
Zweihander is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Beard with a body shot.
Beard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Zweihander looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Beard has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ludus Magnus in the buildup to the fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarrod Beard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Beard misses with a hook. Zweihander ducked under it nicely.

and Zweihander counters with a nice right hand that sends Beard toppling to the canvas! Beard scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Zweihander finish him?!

It looks like Jarrod Beard has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Beard rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zweihander counters with a massive hook, right on the button! He's out cold! Damn, that was naaaaaasty! Hopefully he'll be OK.
