PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kulata Bitok (ranked 24687 p4p, 3495 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 26 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chan moves into range and clinches up with Bitok.

Chan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bitok fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Chan was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Chan has managed to clinch.
A short right from Chan.

Chan is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bitok can't fight it off and eventually Chan manages to take the fight to the floor. Bitok looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Chan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like Chan might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Chan is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Chan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Chan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Chan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chan changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bitok fails with the takedown.

Chan moves into the clinch successfully.

Chan breaks from the clinch.
Chan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bitok has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Chan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bitok jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bitok's guard.
Bitok knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chan on the ground.
Chan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chan working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Chan wants to pass the guard but Bitok is keeping the position.
Chan keeps trying to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Chan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Chan looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bitok is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Chan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Chan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jackie Chan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chan moves into the clinch.

Chan decides to pull guard.

Chan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Chan controlling Bitok's posture.
Chan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bitok's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bitok being controlled here, momentarily.

Chan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bitok trying to keep a closed guard but Chan is proving a slippery customer.
Chan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bitok works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Chan is stalling in the full guard.
Chan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bitok's head.
Chan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Chan controls from within his opponent's guard.
Chan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Chan tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chan is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bitok's shoulder. That is not cool.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Chan.
Chan landing strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Chan content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bitok struggling a bit here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chan lands an elbow.
Chan working the head with strikes.
Chan controls the position.
Bitok takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Jackie Chan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Chan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bitok manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Yet more stalling tactics from Chan.

Bitok working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Chan.
Chan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Chan stays in close to Bitok's body and controls the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bitok has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Chan finds it's way round the side to connect with Bitok's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chan jabs at Bitok's body.
Chan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackie Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bitok on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Chan trying to control the pace.
Chan is looking to advance position but Bitok won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chan is controlling the pace.
Jackie Chan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Chan tries a head kick but it misses.
Kulata Bitok has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chan goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chan throws a head kick but Bitok moves out of range.
Bitok is looking for a counter combo.

Chan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bitok, pushing him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jackie Chan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Chan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
