This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 90 wins and 45 losses; Matvey Pavlov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 8 losses; John McCain!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
McCain shoots in looking for a takedown. Pavlov tries to sprawl out of it but McCain keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pavlov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McCain stuffs the takedown attempt from Pavlov. Pavlov gets slowly back to his feet.
Pavlov has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
McCain dives in and grabs Pavlov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pavlov pushes down on McCain's head and hops out.

Pavlov slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
McCain has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Pavlov is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. McCain has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Pavlov has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! McCain taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Pavlov doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 7:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Matvey Pavlov!
