Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Petey Skugog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Nevada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Skugog might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Going the Distance. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Skugog tries to clinch but Nevada is having none of it.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Skugog.
Skugog works to advance to full mount. Nevada defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Nevada is squirming around, avoiding Skugog's attempts to control the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nevada is in a horrible position here. Skugog smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Skugog has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Nevada is in a horrible position here. Skugog smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Skugog lands a big shot there that rocks Nevada but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Petey Skugog just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Nevada moves into the clinch successfully.
Skugog is pressed up against the cage. Nevada has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Skugog down to the mat. Skugog avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Skugog fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Nevada changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Skugog fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nevada throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Skugog's waist but Skugog gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nevada off to one side.
Petey Skugog has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Nevada.
Nevada avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Skugog shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Skugog was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Skugog moves into range and clinches up with Nevada.
Nevada successfully pulls guard.
Nevada has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Skugog can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nevada throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Skugog gets to his feet. Nevada looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Skugog pulls Nevada in close to prevent any damage.

Skugog can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nevada controls the pace.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nevada drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nevada jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Skugog keeping moving, preventing Nevada from controlling successfully.
Skugog had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nevada is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Skugog Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nevada's back instead.
You can see the frustration on Nevada's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Skugog lands punches and elbows.
Skugog looking for the choke but no joy.
Skugog is cranking Nevada's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Nevada! He's tightened the choke and Nevada is tapping out!
