Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mr Bean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry Carter! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bean fails in his attempt to clinch. Carter lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bean tries to clinch up. Bean rushes Carter and presses him up against the cage. Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Bean. Carter tries to work over Bean's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. A short right from Carter on the inside. Carter doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Carter tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bean's elbow. Carter lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bean or not. Carter breaks the clinch.
Bean slips a jab from Carter. Barry Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carter throws a right hand that Bean ducks under and follows up with a left that Bean also avoids with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bean tries to clinch but Carter is having none of it. Bean bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Carter fails to land with a series of punches.
Carter misses with a wild body shot. Carter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carter now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Carter throws a big shot that misses. A counter left hand to the body from Bean misses its target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter looks to land a right hand but Bean moved out of range. Carter throws a hook to the side of Bean's head but Bean sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Bean closes the distance looking to clinch and Carter counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. A telegraphed right hand from Carter misses the target. Bean lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carter circles away quickly and effectively. Bean has closed the distance and engaged Carter in a clinch.
A short right from Carter on the inside. Carter lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Carter gets underhooks to prevent Bean's takedown attempt.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Carter creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A shot in the inside from Carter. Carter lands a hook to the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bean is trying to drag Carter to the mat but Carter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Bean has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carter avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Bean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bean avoiding damage.
Bean looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Bean lands a takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth. Bean stands up from guard. Let's bang! Bean is looking to clinch. Carter closes the distance and clinches. Bean throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Carter lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Bean has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Carter after a bit of a struggle. Carter lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bean or not. The referee is keeping an eye on Carter - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Bean is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Carter just leaning against Bean, taking a breather. Carter gets underhooks to prevent Bean's takedown attempt.
Carter lands a right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Still in the clinch, Carter scores with a nice short uppercut.
Bean is rocked! Carter lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Oh Bean is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Carter throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Beans head. Carter creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Bean with a big uppercut! Bean tries to clinch up but Carter pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Bean to the mat! Bean covers up and Carter unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Barry Carter! Barry Carter decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
