Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Gerns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethan Drosen! The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drosen is looking to clinch but Gerns is avoiding it.
Gerns slips a jab and a cross from Drosen.
Drosen shoots for a double leg takedown but Gerns sprawls well. He's pushed Drosen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ethan Drosen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Drosen moves away from the strike by Gerns. Drosen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Drosen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Drosen misses the shot to the body. Drosen fails with the takedown. Gary Gerns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Drosen. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gerns lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Drosen shoots for a double leg takedown but Gerns sprawls well. Drosen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Drosen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Drosen tries to move into range but Gerns moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Good exchange - Gerns coming out on top. Drosen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gerns lands a jab to the nose. Drosen closes the distance and clinches up with Gerns, looking for a takedown. Drosen pushes Gerns against the cage but Gerns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Drosen throws a sloppy head kick and Gerns moves out of range easily. Drosen moves away from the strike by Gerns. Gerns lands with a straight right. Drosen didn't see that one coming. Drosen fails with the takedown. Jab by Gerns. Drosen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gerns. Drosen fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Drosen. Drosen looks for a takedown but Gerns sprawls well. Drosen closes the distance and clinches up with Gerns, looking for a takedown. Drosen pushes Gerns against the cage but Gerns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Drosen throws a push kick but Gerns slaps the foot to one side. Horrible takedown by Drosen or perhaps it was just good defense by Gerns which made him look bad. Drosen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Drosen shoots in for a double leg but Gerns sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Drosen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A punch combination from Drosen misses. Gerns sizes up Drosen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Drosen misses with a takedown attempt - Gerns sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Drosen wants to clinch up but Gerns keeps it at a distance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Drosen misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Gerns dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Drosen takes a swing at Gerns's ribcage but misses. Gerns scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Gerns stuffs the takedown attempt from Drosen. Drosen gets slowly back to his feet. Gerns is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Gerns cracks Drosen with a good jab. Drosen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Drosen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drosen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gary Gerns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Drosen. Drosen tries to clinch there but Gerns circles away.
Drosen comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Drosen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Drosen takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Good standup being displayed there by Gerns as he connects with a hook. Drosen looks to land a body kick but Gerns moved away. Gerns pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Drosen walks into a jab. Gary Gerns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Drosen scores with a kick to the body.
Drosen doesn't manage to clinch there - Gerns circles away.
The fighters circling - Gerns throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ethan Drosen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Drosen fails to land the takedown. Drosen fails with the takedown. Gerns scores with a punch to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gerns takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Drosen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gerns's waist but Gerns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Drosen off to one side. Drosen goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Gerns jabbing away but nothing is landing. Drosen tries to clinch up but Gerns circles away and keeps his distance. Drosen tries to clinch there but Gerns circles away.
Drosen shoots in and drives through. Gerns sprawls well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Drosen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Gerns tries to escape but Drosen is in control. Drosen is looking to take a break and control but Gerns is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gerns tries to bench press Drosen off him but Drosen keeps the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gerns is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Drosen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Drosen advances to full mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Ethan Drosen will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Drosen. Drosen walks into a jab.
And that's the end of the fight! Gary Gerns showed his dominance in that final round. I think Gerns has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
