The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Biden avoids it really well and circles away.
Biden shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Nikolaev shoots in but no luck this time.
Nikolaev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Joe Biden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Nikolaev.
Nice takedown defense from Biden. No joy for Nikolaev on that attempt.
Nikolaev shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Biden but Biden pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Biden wants the takedown. Nikolaev is fighting it off but Biden persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nikolaev's guard against the cage.

Biden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
