The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ballard lands a jab-cross combination.
A low kick from McCurry misses
and Ballard counters with a straight right hand.
Nice jab there from Ballard.
Ballard throws a looping overhand right but McCurry ducks down to avoid it.

McCurry shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ballard's guard.
McCurry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McCurry works a leg free and moves into half guard.

McCurry lands with a thumping leg kick.

McCurry shoots in and bounces Ballard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

McCurry pushes Ballard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
McCurry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ballard.

McCurry displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ballard throws out the jab.
Ballard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
