Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael McCurry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Ballard! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ballard lands a jab-cross combination. A low kick from McCurry misses and Ballard counters with a straight right hand. Nice jab there from Ballard. Ballard throws a looping overhand right but McCurry ducks down to avoid it. McCurry shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ballard's guard. McCurry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. McCurry works a leg free and moves into half guard. McCurry stands up from half guard. McCurry lands with a thumping leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McCurry instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ballard wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Ballard is trying to push McCurry away but McCurry has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Ballard is trying to break free. Come on McCurry - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
McCurry is looking to take this one to the mat. McCurry jumps guard.
McCurry is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. McCurry keeping moving, preventing Ballard from controlling successfully. McCurry throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
McCurry lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCurry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ballard looking to control.
Ballard might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McCurry haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. McCurry gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. McCurry shoots in and bounces Ballard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. McCurry stays in close to Ballard's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCurry has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCurry is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ballard is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ballard has escaped and now he's on top!
McCurry pushes Ballard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. McCurry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ballard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCurry displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ballard throws out the jab. Ballard throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McCurry gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Ballard counter with a right hand. McCurry darts in trying to clinch and Ballard counters with a straight right hand. Some wild striking there from Ballard.
McCurry gets a double leg takedown into Ballard's guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Michael McCurry dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
McCurry clinches. McCurry decides to pull guard. McCurry looking for a triangle here. Ballard is fighting it but it looks tight! McCurry pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ballard is tapping out - this one is all over!
