Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 1741 p4p, 2699 weight class) and Miyata San (ranked 150 p4p, 222 weight class). Miyata San has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyata San! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kursiwa shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. San flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
San moves into full guard.
San throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Kursiwa preventing the sweep. Our spies down at at Snake Eyes Fighting Systems inform us that San has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? San avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kursiwa's corner is telling him to maintain position. San tries to strike from the bottom.
San tries to land a sweep but no joy. San lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Kursiwa looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. San lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Kursiwa manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. San manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kursiwa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as San works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. San throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Kursiwa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back. San trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! San striking off his back but it's not causing Kursiwa any problems. Kursiwa stands up over San, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Kursiwa working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Kursiwa with a nice head shot there. San trying to strike off his back.

Kursiwa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. San trying to strike off his back.
Kursiwa trying to control the position from guard on top but San is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kursiwa trying to stand up but can't free himself from San's guard. Kursiwa wants to control from the top but San keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kursiwa landing with the ground and pound. San doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
San bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kursiwa's guard. San stands and throws Kursiwa's legs to the side, diving into side control. San is trying to ground and pound but Kursiwa uses the momentary lack of control by San to regain half guard. Kursiwa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. San is working away from the top position though. San drops an elbow to the side of Kursiwa's head. Kursiwa on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Kursiwa tries to get to full guard but San has control of the leg. Kursiwa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kursiwa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Kursiwa is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kursiwa kicks San off and gets to his feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kursiwa. San changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. San is looking to clinch but Kursiwa is avoiding it.
San rushes Kursiwa and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. San misses with some punches.
Kursiwa breaks from the clinch.
Kursiwa darts in looking for a takedown but San gets double underhooks and turns Kursiwa into the cage. San lands a hook to the side of the head. A shot in the inside from San. San throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kursiwas head. San pushes Kursiwa back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kursiwa is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! San lands a hook to the side of the head. Oh Kursiwa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! San pushes Kursiwa against the cage. San is working some dirty boxing. San pushes off with a quick right hook! Kursiwa goes down! Kursiwa tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! San moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Miyata San! Our winner, Miyata San, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
