PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ravjeet Peitheiyan (ranked 6218 p4p, 4384 weight class) and Muhammad Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peitheiyan has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ravjeet Peitheiyan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Muhammad Ali!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ali closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Peitheiyan is breathing heavily.
Ali is staying tight to Peitheiyan's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Peitheiyan tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Peitheiyan's face as Ali controls the position.
Ali wants to lay and pray for a moment but Peitheiyan keeps working.
Ali throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Peitheiyan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Ali stands up and beckons Peitheiyan to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peitheiyan shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ali eats them both and turns towards Peitheiyan to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ali changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peitheiyan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ali tries to stand but Peitheiyan is controlling his head.

Ali decides to stand back up.

Peitheiyan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ali to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Ali trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ali would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ali throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ali stands up from Peitheiyan's guard - Ali perhaps looking for a knockout.

Ali shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Peitheiyan napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ali tries to advance to mount but can't.
Peitheiyan wants to control but Ali postures up.
Ali fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Ali misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Ali decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ali feints and as Peitheiyan raises his hands in defense, Ali changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ali wants to stand but Peitheiyan is controlling his posture from full guard.

Peitheiyan seems keen to control Ali's posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ali controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Ali tries to free his leg and advance position but Peitheiyan is retaining full guard.
Ali slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ali decides to stand up, so the ref orders Peitheiyan to his feet.

Ali decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peitheiyan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Peitheiyan wants to get back to his feet.
Ali scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Ali wants to take a breather but Peitheiyan is having none of it.

Ali is taking a breather. Peitheiyan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ali is trying to control the action in half guard but Peitheiyan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Peitheiyan is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Ali passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Peitheiyan!
Peitheiyan is looking to improve his position but Ali isn't that keen on the idea.
Peitheiyan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ali jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Peitheiyan manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Ali decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ali clinches up against the cage.

Peitheiyan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ali fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Peitheiyan to the ground. Ali is now in Peitheiyan's guard.
Ali wants to control from the top but Peitheiyan keeps moving.
Peitheiyan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peitheiyan working for a triangle but Ali defends it easily.
Peitheiyan seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Peitheiyan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Peitheiyan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ali controls the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Muhammad Ali showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Peitheiyan lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ali!

Ravjeet Peitheiyan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ali lands with a nice combination. Peitheiyan backs away looking to recover.

Ali scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ali has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ali controlling from the top position.
Ali trying to control the position from guard on top but Peitheiyan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ali must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ali lands a couple of digs.
Ali looking to pass the guard.
Ali is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ali dives in and grabs Peitheiyan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Peitheiyan pushes down on Ali's head and hops out.
Peitheiyan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Peitheiyan plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Ali shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Peitheiyan manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ali keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Ali has Peitheiyan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Peitheiyan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ali doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ali stops a takedown attempt from Peitheiyan.

Ali gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Peitheiyan scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Peitheiyan leaves Ali with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ravjeet Peitheiyan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Muhammad Ali.

Peitheiyan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ali off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Peitheiyan smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Ali tries to clinch but Peitheiyan is having none of it.
Peitheiyan avoids the head kick by Ali.
Peitheiyan is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Ali throws a sloppy head kick
and Peitheiyan counters with a nice kick to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Peitheiyan moves into the clinch.

Peitheiyan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ali shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Peitheiyan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Peitheiyan tries to clinch but Ali is having none of it.

Peitheiyan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Ali off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Peitheiyan shoots in but Ali avoids the takedown attempt easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ravjeet Peitheiyan showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ali has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
