Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Diaz (ranked 5551 p4p, 4374 weight class) and Szymon Bartkiewicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is You take everything i work for. A fine choice. Szymon Bartkiewicz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nate Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Szymon Bartkiewicz! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz tries to sprawl but Bartkiewicz drives through with a takedown into half guard. Diaz is not content to let Bartkiewicz control the position. Bartkiewicz tries to pass to full mount but Diaz defends it. Diaz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Diaz. Bartkiewicz wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Bartkiewicz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bartkiewicz trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz trying to keep a closed guard but Bartkiewicz is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz is breathing heavily. Bartkiewicz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bartkiewicz wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving. Bartkiewicz wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bartkiewicz darts in looking for a takedown but Diaz gets double underhooks and turns Bartkiewicz into the cage. Bartkiewicz has a takedown stuffed.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Diaz throws a right hand that Bartkiewicz ducks under and follows up with a left that Bartkiewicz also avoids with ease. Diaz displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Diaz scores with a shot to the body.
Diaz gets caught napping as Bartkiewicz dives in and scores a takedown. Diaz manages to retain guard. Bartkiewicz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Diaz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Diaz has escaped and now he's on top!
Diaz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bartkiewicz has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Diaz should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Bartkiewicz has tightened it up now! Diaz should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Szymon Bartkiewicz! A relieved looking Szymon Bartkiewicz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Nate Diaz was interviewed post fight and said 'The only people who tought i lost were the judges.'.
