Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chimzat Khamaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Taisto Thai!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khamaev cracks Thai with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Khamaev darts in looking for a takedown but Thai gets double underhooks and turns Khamaev into the cage.
Khamaev drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thai pulls his leg out and moves away.
Thai connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Thai defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khamaev.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chimzat Khamaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thai fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Khamaev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Thai gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Thai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Khamaev blocks it with crossed arms.

Khamaev has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Thai is trying to keep an underhook but Khamaev manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Thai pushes Khamaev off looking to stand but Khamaev dives back in and keeps control.

Thai is looking for a sweep. Khamaev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Khamaev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thai keeps working.
Thai really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Khamaev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thai is looking to control Khamaev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Thai avoid being mounted?

Thai looks like he's trying to stand up.
Khamaev looks to land a strike but Thai avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thai wants to stand and escape but Khamaev is having none of it.
Khamaev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Khamaev is thwarting Thai's attempts to control the position.
Thai looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Thai looks like he's trying to stand up.

Khamaev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Thai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Khamaev thows a huge punch but Thai dodges it nicely.

Thai is looking for a sweep. Khamaev is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Thai is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Khamaev scores with a couple of nice shots.

Khamaev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Khamaev lands with a punch from half guard.
Khamaev is trying to control the action in half guard but Thai is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Khamaev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Khamaev not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Khamaev lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Thai is trying to stand up here but Khamaev is controlling him well.
Khamaev winds up and cracks Thai with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Khamaev thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Khamaev drops an elbow to the side of Thai's head.
Thai is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Thai blocking the ground and pound attempt from Khamaev.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chimzat Khamaev will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Post fight, Taisto Thai stared into the camera and said 'Im the best! '.
Chimzat Khamaev spoke after the fight, saying 'I trained so hard for this fight! I’ll be back! Keel everybody! '.
