Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pearce Pennington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nik Fox! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pennington closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Fox is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Fox tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pennington just stands there and leans against the cage. Fox goes for a takedown in the clinch but Pennington prevents it.
Pennington gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pennington looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Fox gets full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pennington keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fox's head. Pennington is stalling in the full guard. Fox is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pennington is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pennington trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pennington showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Pennington scoring with some ground and pound. Fox wants to sweep here but Pennington controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pennington is stalling in the full guard. Pennington scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Fox can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pennington controls the pace. Pennington has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pennington is sitting in close to Fox's body. Fox has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Pennington is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Pennington is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fox.
