Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lamberto De Mattos (ranked 2171 p4p, 4022 weight class) and Ray Cartier (ranked 101 p4p, 118 weight class). Ray Cartier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lamberto De Mattos ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Cartier! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cartier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cartier lands in his opponent's guard. Cartier must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cartier's corner is telling him to maintain position. De Mattos is looking for a triangle but Cartier pushes his legs off easily.
Cartier connects with a couple of short punches. Cartier working some strikes from top position. Cartier trying to control but De Mattos is working from the bottom. De Mattos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cartier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cartier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Cartier trying to control the position from guard on top but De Mattos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cartier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Cartier sitting in guard, not really doing much. Cartier trying to control the position from guard on top but De Mattos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cartier engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. De Mattos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cartier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cartier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Cartier postures up and lands a big shot to De Mattos 's brow. Cartier drops back looking for a leg! De Mattos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De Mattos manages to kick Cartier off! Cartier jumps back into De Mattos 's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. De Mattos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cartier controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. De Mattos looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
De Mattos wants to sweep here but Cartier controlling him for the moment. Cartier controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Cartier lands a couple of digs. Cartier distracts De Mattos with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. De Mattos is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cartier is aware though and is defending well. Cartier is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cartier works his way back into a safe position though. Cartier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cartier passes De Mattos 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cartier keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Cartier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks De Mattos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. De Mattos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cartier pulls his head out easily. De Mattos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cartier is working away from the top position though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cartier in particular looking to stall. Cartier has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Cartier is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but De Mattos is surviving well by controlling Cartier's body position as best he can. De Mattos is looking to improve his position but Cartier isn't that keen on the idea. De Mattos defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Cartier. Cartier breaks from De Mattos 's wrist control and lands an elbow. De Mattos tries to reverse the position but Cartier maintains control. A nice elbow there by Cartier.
That's four minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Cartier connects with a massive shot to the dome!
De Mattos tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cartier tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Cartier trying to control but De Mattos is having none of it. Cartier throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! De Mattos has his hands clasped together but Cartier breaks the hold and De Mattos is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Cartier!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ray Cartier! During a confident post fight interview, Ray Cartier thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
