PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christian Zayer Jr (ranked 2461 p4p, 2469 weight class) and Pablo Esposito (ranked 210 p4p, 211 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Christian Zayer Jr has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Christian Zayer Jr seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Christian Zayer Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pablo Esposito!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esposito fails with a takedown attempt.

Esposito changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Zayer Jr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Zayer Jr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Zayer Jr's coaches at PhoQus Island Training have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Zayer Jr is not content to let Esposito control the position.
Esposito wants to take a breather but Zayer Jr manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Esposito.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zayer Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Esposito doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Esposito manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Esposito stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zayer Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zayer Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Esposito can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

It looks like Esposito might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Zayer Jr escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Esposito shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Esposito was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
