2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedrinho Matador! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matador blocks a head kick by Bourque.
Bourque clinches up with Matador and pushes him back against the cage. Bourque connects with a nasty looking knee right to Matador's face.

Bourque lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Bourque keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Matador's efforts to push away. Matador is trying to force a seperation but Bourque has the dominant position. Matador breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bourque throws a head kick that half lands.
Matador is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bourque sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bourque throws a half hearted mid kick. Bourque forces Matador back against the cage and clinches. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bourque is looking to slow Matador down with leg kicks. A big right from Bourque misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bourque throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Matador's head. A head kick lands from Bourque that sends Matador to the canvas. Matador tries to scramble back to his feet but Bourque brings him back down into side control.
Matador is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Matador is looking for a sweep. Matador manages to get back to half guard. Bourque controlling the pace. Bourque decides to stand and escape the position. Bourque rushes Matador and presses him up against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matador wants to break free but Bourque has control.
Matador wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bourque has him pressed against the cage. Bourque lands a right hand that snaps the head of Matador backwards. Bourque lands a nice knee to the body. Bourque breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A head kick from Bourque lands but Matador takes it in his stride. Bourque throws a series of punches but Matador moves out of range. Bourque pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matador ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jab by Bourque. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Both fighters circling a little - Bourque finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Bourque clinches up with Matador and pushes him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bourque makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Bourque pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Matador fails with a takedown attempt. Brian Bourque has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pedrinho Matador. Bourque moves into the clinch successfully.
