Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tim Land (ranked 4307 p4p, 2957 weight class) and Dudley Ferouq (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Land .
Ferouq fails to land the takedown.
Land attempts a counter takedown but Ferouq avoids it well and moves away.
Ferouq shoots in for a double leg but Land sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ferouq tries to clinch but Land is having none of it.
Ferouq fails with the takedown.
Tim Land has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dudley Ferouq.

Land throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ferouq on the side of the head.

Land rushes Ferouq and presses him up against the cage.

Ferouq defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Land .
Land really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ferouq tries to clinch but Land moves out of range.
Land dives in and grabs Ferouq's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ferouq pushes down on Land 's head and hops out.
Ferouq tries to counter with a clinch but Land shakes him off and moves away.
Land shoots in looking for a takedown. Ferouq tries to sprawl out of it but Land keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ferouq manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Land counters with a crisp one two that drops Ferouq! Land thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Ferouq to his feet! Ferouq is in big trouble!

Ferouq throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Land 's waist but Land gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ferouq off to one side.
Ferouq is still on wobbly legs! Can Land finish him?

Land closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ferouq's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Land gets to his feet. Ferouq looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Land gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ferouq seems to have recovered his senses.

Land wants the takedown. Ferouq is fighting it off but Land persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ferouq's guard against the cage.
Land is standing up over Ferouq. Ferouq looks to escape but Land dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Land tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Land sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Land thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Land has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Land seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ferouq for as long as he can get away with.

Land shoots in and bounces Ferouq off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ferouq is wriggling around but Land manages to pass to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Land lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Land seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Land is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Land pulls guard successfully.
Land is adopting a defensive guard.
Land is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Land stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Ferouq gets caught napping as Land dives in and scores a takedown. Ferouq manages to retain guard.

Land shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ferouq sprawls well. Ferouq wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Land gets slowly back to his feet.

Land turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Land manages to end up in side control.
Ferouq bucks up and tries to throw Land off but instead Land has got his back!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ferouq really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Land . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Land is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ferouq to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ferouq shrugs it off.

Land 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Land has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Land is looking for the choke from the back position but Ferouq is controlling his hands well.
Ferouq just trying to survive but Land is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Ferouq is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Land gets his way!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Land is persistently looking for the submission but Ferouq is defending it well.
