PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Reico Huust (ranked 1460 p4p, 1464 weight class) and Luuk Benjamin (ranked 137 p4p, 139 weight class). Luuk Benjamin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Reico Huust!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luuk Benjamin!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huust throws a combination. Benjamin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Benjamin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Huust slips a jab from Benjamin.
Benjamin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Huust.
Huust throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Benjamin doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Huust ducks under a wild hook from Benjamin.
Benjamin lands with an uppercut that bounces Huust off the cage and back into range.
Huust wants to clinch
and Huust takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Huust throws a jab when Benjamin was well out of range.
Despite the aggression on Benjamin's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Huust definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Huust lands with a straight right. Benjamin didn't see that one coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Huust misses with a few strikes there.
Benjamin unleashes a big counter combination but Huust bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Benjamin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Huust throws out the jab.
Benjamin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Reico Huust seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benjamin scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Huust throws a jab but it's blocked by Benjamin.
It seemed like Benjamin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Huust slips a straight right by Benjamin.

Huust keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

A quick step to the side and Huust tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Benjamin throws out a leg kick but Huust moves out of range and Benjamin only half commits.
Huust thuds a left hand into Benjamin's body.
A head kick misses from Benjamin.
Benjamin throws a hook to the side of Huust's head but Huust sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Huust fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Benjamin manages to avoid it.
Benjamin now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Huust jabs Benjamin right on the nose. Benjamin blinks but takes it well.
Benjamin checks a leg kick.
Huust throws a lazy uppercut
and Benjamin counters with a nice uppercut.
Huust swings away with a body shot that misses
and Benjamin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Huust is rocked!

Oh Huust is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Benjamin lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Huust falls backwards - clearly groggy! Benjamin dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
