Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Caldeira (ranked 2788 p4p, 5175 weight class) and Ono Kuronoa (ranked 342 p4p, 477 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Arturo Caldeira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 13 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ono Kuronoa! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Caldeira, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Good leg kick by Kuronoa. Caldeira shoots in for a double leg but Kuronoa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Caldeira looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kuronoa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Caldeira. Caldeira fails with the takedown and Caldeira takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Caldeira closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Caldeira trying to control from Kuronoa's half guard. Kuronoa has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Caldeira wants to control from the top but Kuronoa keeps moving. Kuronoa is trying to control the position but Caldeira postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caldeira controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Kuronoa keeping moving, preventing Caldeira from controlling successfully. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Kuronoa has his hands on Caldeira's head, controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Caldeira misses with a takedown and Kuronoa counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arturo Caldeira. That's going to take a lot out of him. Caldeira takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kuronoa thuds his shin into the meat of Caldeira's side. Caldeira's corner calls for a 1-2. Caldeira obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Caldeira takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Kuronoa gets caught napping as Caldeira dives in and scores a takedown. Kuronoa manages to retain guard. Caldeira wants to control from the top but Kuronoa keeps moving. Kuronoa is looking to cinch up a triangle. Caldeira throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kuronoa's body to avoid the submission. Kuronoa has instead reached around Caldeira's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kuronoa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ono Kuronoa!
