Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Erwin Smith (ranked 4349 p4p, 4397 weight class) and Mamoun Arif (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith with a hook.
Arif closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
As Arif backs away, Smith returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Arif walks forward, straight into a front kick from Smith.
An inside leg kick lands from Smith.
Arif will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Arif lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Arif fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Smith to the ground. Arif is now in Smith's guard.

Smith manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Arif tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.

Mamoun Arif seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Arif misses with a looping left.
Smith feints and then cracks Arif's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Arif down.
Arif takes a kick to the side of the head.
Smith lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.
Arif closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Arif pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Arif throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Arif's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Smith buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Arif tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smith defends well and Arif ends up having to push Smith into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Arif shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.

Arif rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith lands a leg kick that knocks Arif off balance momentarily.
Arif throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Arif takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Smith throws a leg kick but Arif sees it coming and moves out of range.
No joy there for Arif, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
