Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Dee Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Rolle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes to the cage accompanied by Chant and E Ala E. Rolle has chosen capsule - jumper as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Rolle. No joy for Penn on that attempt. Penn looks for a takedown but Rolle sprawls well. Penn shoots in and drives through. Rolle sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Dee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rolle looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Rolle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rolle won't allow Penn to get back to his feet. Rolle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Penn is keeping the position for now. Rolle wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn looking for a sweep. Not yet Penn, not yet. Penn keeping full guard, as Rolle tries to pass.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rolle slips under a jab from Penn. Rolle misses with a body shot.
Penn misses with a takedown and Rolle counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Penn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Penn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rolle on the ground. Penn tries to roll over but Rolle keeps him under control. Penn trying to control but Rolle postures up.
Rolle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rolle wants to pass to mount but Penn is defending the position. Rolle passes to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. BOOM! Rolle connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Penn tries to reverse the position but Rolle maintains control. Poor strikes thrown by Rolle there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rolle throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Rolle landing strikes from the mount and Penn is in trouble! Penn is breathing heavily. Rolle avoids the attempt from Penn to control. Rolle has control of Penn's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Penn regains control of the situation pretty easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is squirming around, avoiding Rolle's attempts to control the action. Rolle is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Penn is in real trouble.
Rolle has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Penn has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Rolle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Penn avoids the strikes from Rolle. Penn preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Rolle. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rolle working for a choke but Penn is defending well. Rolle throwing wild punches that miss their target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Xavier Rolle dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Penn closes the distance looking to clinch and Rolle counters with a nice double leg into side control. Penn won't be happy with that. Penn manages to get back to half guard. Penn is looking to escape. Xavier Rolle has got the better of the ground game so far. Rolle thows a huge punch but Penn dodges it nicely.
Penn blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rolle. Rolle is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rolle to get the leverage. Penn wants to control but Rolle is keeping busy and won't allow it. Rolle slips a nice elbow through Penn's hands, connecting with Penn's forehead. Rolle content to control rather than advance. Penn is trying to stand up here but Rolle is controlling him well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rolle is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer. Penn is looking to improve his position.
Rolle seems to be working for a kimura but Penn defends the submission attempt. Rolle seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Penn wants to get back to full guard. Rolle missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Rolle is taking a breather. Penn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Rolle tries to pass the half guard into mount. Penn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Rolle is working for a kimura but Penn is defending it quite comfortably.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rolle misses the shot to the body. Penn with a lazy takedown attempt and Rolle counters with a right hand to the body. Penn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rolle scores with a jab. Rolle lands a slapping body shot.
Rolle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rolle showed some decent athleticism there. Rolle is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn trying to control from the bottom.
Penn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rolle is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Penn makes his way to full guard, as Rolle worked for a kimura.
Penn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Penn wants to stand but Rolle is controlling the position. Rolle looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Xavier Rolle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
A shot to de liver by Rolle. Beautiful body shot. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Penn is defended easily by Rolle. Penn ducks under a wild hook from Rolle. Rolle is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Penn rather than just go for the knockout. Penn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rolle. Penn moves in looking to clinch but Rolle pushes him off. Penn walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Rolle connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn fails with the takedown and Rolle counters with a takedown into side control. Rolle is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Penn will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Rolle sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Penn is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rolle is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Rolle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rolle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Rolle tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Penn tries to buck Rolle off but Rolle is having none of it. Jay Dee Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rolle wants to control for a moment but Penn uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Rolle moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Penn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Rolle manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Penn manages to get himself to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rolle throwing strikes from guard but Penn blocks nicely. Rolle stands and throws Penn's legs to the side, diving into side control. Rolle has hold of Penn's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Penn tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rolle cranks the arm and Penn screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Penn, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
